Before every order (supplement, fixed insert, sample or floating insert), the publisher must be provided with two binding sample copies, and the printer with three, plus a reserved sample in the case of fixed inserts/sachets. The order does not become binding until it has been approved in writing by the publisher. In special cases, the publisher reserves the right to carry out a test run of 1,000 copies.

Please note: if any processing difficulties occur due to inserts of insufficient quality, the
finalisation of the magazine takes priority over customer inserts.
 
Status: the binding of the flyer inserts must be flush with the binding of the magazine. Distance from binding min. 15 mm, max. 80 mm.
Distance from head, foot and face trim at least 15 mm.
   
Formats: min. 55 x 85 mm, max. 190 x 260 mm (portrait).
Some formats below the minimum format may still be accepted. Dummy copies must be sent to the publisher and printer for verification. The printer requires 1,000 samples.
   
Quality standard: possibility of position deviations of +/- 3 to 5 mm and up to 3°.
   
Weight: individual pages/postcards: Minimum 135 g/m2 / Postcards must comply with post office guidelines.
Booklets: depending on placement: max. 15 grams or max. 30 grams Sachets: depending on placement: max. 10 grams or max. 16 grams
   
Finishing: fixed inserts and samples must be cut to format precisely and cleanly. Errors representing up to 1% of the total quantity provided are considered to be within the tolerance limits.
Positioning: centre page, fixed to the head
   
Formats: Min. 105 x 148 mm, max. 210 x 280 mm
   
Edge trim: Supplements of up to 4 pages in magazine format:
4 mm head, foot and face trim without overfold.
Supplements of over 4 pages in magazine format:
4 mm head, foot and face trim, fixed to the head or 10 mm overfold at the back.

Finishing: folded, non-banded at least up to 100 copies, non-interlaced within the same bundle. If smaller than magazine format, cut to final format on the right and at the bottom.

Distance of non-bleed elements from format trim: min. 8 mm due to binding taper. For magazine formats, “Promotional insert with Friday .../...” must be printed on the 1st page.

Formats: min. 110 x 95 mm, max. 420 x 120 mm (open format, unfolded)
   
Edge trim: Floating flyers or inserts must be cut to format precisely and cleanly. With the exception of the size 420 x 120 mm (open format, folded to 210 x 120 mm), the height must be cut to format precisely. An edge trim of 3mm is required on each side widthwise.
   
Weight of paper: min. 100 g/m2, max. 250gr/m2
   
Fold: 1x fold (must be in the binding)
   
Finishing: Clean delivery without damage/deformations to the pallets or sheets. A cardboard divider should be placed between each layer. Inserts may not be packaged in cardboard boxes or plastic film. Inserts may be interlaced a maximum of once and may not attached with plastic bands to prevent slippage. Piles should be between 80 and 100 mm high, edge trims may be discussed in advance directly with the customer advisor. Goods must be divided by category and clearly labelled to avoid mix-ups. Goods must be delivered to Stark Druck GmbH at the latest 5 days prior to the insert deadline. Costs arising from incorrect deliveries or insufficient processability will be charged according to expenditure.
Delivery conditions for supplements, fixed inserts and floating inserts and goods samples
  • Fixed inserts and goods samples must not be stuck together.
  • They are to be piled or packaged without rubber bands or banderoles.
  • Envelopes and small flyers must be laid on pallets, facing the same direction, without play, and protected against slippage by dividers and bases, with a grip height of at least 100 mm.
  • Goods samples must be placed upright on pallets, facing the same direction, without play, and protected against slippage and damage by dividers and bases.
  • Enquiries should be made about packaging for special products.


Layer formation for supplements / floating inserts / flyers
  • Each layer should consist of piles of at least 50 non-interlaced copies or have a grip height of no less than 100 mm.
  • Two layers are always to lie crosswise on each other.
  • A slip sheet should be placed between each layer.


Layer formation for fixed inserts
  • Fixed inserts, simple or four-page postcards should be placed in piles not exceeding 200 mm in height per layer.
  • They must not lie crosswise within the same layer.
  • A slip sheet should be placed between each layer.
Palletisation
  • EUR-pallets should be used.
  • The palette packaging must prevent any displacement, slippage or damage of the contents.
  • It must be designed to ensure that no moisture can penetrate from the outside.
  • A palette proof must be attached on at least two sides (front sides) and if possible on all four sides.
  • The palette proof must specify the following details:
a) The object in question
b) The issue number/date
c) The title of the insert, loose insert or fixed insert
d) Language
e) The number of copies on the palette
f) The total number and number of palettes
g) Sender and recipient
h) Space for observations
 
Delivery slip
  • The details on the delivery slip must correspond to the information on the palette proof.
  • For deliveries from abroad, the delivery terms (INCO terms) must be stated on the commercial invoice: DDP - Delivered duty paid.
  • Customs clearance costs are borne by the importer.
